Tips and Techniques in Application

Tips for application of Acti-Tape / Points to note when applying Acti-Tape

  • Stretch of Acti-Tape

When applying Acti-Tape, the working part (middle part of the tape) can be stretched to the maximum if required. Leave about 2cm of tape at each end un-stretched. This avoids shearing tension to the skin at the ends and consequent redness or soreness caused by that force on the skin when the tape is used for extended periods of time.

  • Round-off the Corners before Applying Acti-Tape

Before applying Acti-Tape, use scissors to round-off the corners at each end of the tape. This makes it less easy for the tape to be accidentally peeled away or where a corner is ‘rubbed’ off.

  • Technique of Applying the Tape on the Skin

The glue used on Acti-Tape is activated by body heat. The position of the tape may be adjusted initially but once in place as required, apply pressure by rubbing on the surface of the tape (avoiding lifting any corners) to ensure proper adhesion It is not recommended to re-apply/re-position the tape after this as it will not stay on firmly.

  • Application for Supporting Joints & Muscles

For easy understanding, when Acti-Tape is used with stretch (up to maximum stretch), this application provides compression. Compression is used where stability and support of joints or muscles are required.

  • Applications for Swelling & Pain Management

On the other hand, Acti-Tape can be applied with no stretch. Instead the joint (eg.bending of wrist) or body part is first flexed and the tape applied without stretch. This technique creates ‘lift’ to the skin surface and reduces pressure on the nerves and also creates better circulation. It is particularly good for swelling and pain management.

  • Different Cutting Techniques

Aside from taping technique, Acti-Tape is great when prepared properly using different cutting techniques. Different cutting techniques will make the application of the tape more effective.

  • Taping Effect

When properly taped, users will feel at least some difference very quickly especially in cases involving pain and stiffness. It normally takes 24 hours to experience a more obvious result.

  • Different Applications & Techniques for Different Conditions & Problems

Acti-Tape can be applied for conditions / problems in joints and muscles as well as in situations issues are internal (e.g. hayfever, menstrual pain). Different applications and techniques can be seen online with videos available at www.acti-tape.com

  • Self-Application Technique

Acti-Tape is easy to use. Users can learn self-application techniques for certain areas such as the feet, knees, legs, arms or shoulders. For application on other areas like the neck, back, back of knee, back of thigh etc, assistance of another person will be required (assisted application).

  • Precaution

Learning how to apply Acti-Tape is not difficult. Using it properly can help with managing conditions efficiently and effectively. For long term, persistent, recurring symptoms or in the event of any uncertainty, seek proper medical advice before use. Stop use immediately in event of any allergic reaction or if excessive redness occurs.
